Acrylic Rendering
What is acrylic rendering?
Acrylic rendering is a type of exterior finishing method that mixes acrylic (a plastic) into the mixture. Just like cement rendering, acrylic rendering can be used to cover external walls like:
- Concrete walls
- Brick walls
- Stone walls
- And even mud walls
Unlike cement rendering, acrylic rendering can be applied to more surfaces. This includes smooth concrete, painted masonry, uneven concrete, plasterboards, and more.
The reason this is applied is to increase the durability and resistance of external walls, increase home insulation, and improve the aesthetics of your property.
What type of finishes or textures are available?
Similarly to cement rendering, acrylic rendering has a variety of textures available. Depending on your preferences, you can choose from:
- Smooth finishes of varying degrees
- Rough, pebbly finishes, of varying degrees
To achieve each finish different materials and techniques are used. For example, a different sponge, float, or other tool will be used.
Depending on the number of coats you want, how you plan to paint the wall after the cement has cured (after 28 days), and the end result desired — the optimal finish for your property will change.
Benefits of acrylic rendering:
With acrylic rendering you enjoy the same benefits as cement rendering, including:
- Enhanced aesthetic by replacing old cracked or exposed brick walls, with modern, smooth, and cleaner looking rendered walls
- Protecting the external wall surface (bricks, stone, concrete etc) from natural elements such as weather
- Improve insulation for better heating or cooling and decreased energy costs
- Increase water resistance to prevent water from seeping in through bricks and damaging internal materials such as floorboards
These are all factors which can increase your property’s value and make living there an absolute pleasure.
BUT you also get to enjoy added benefits exclusive to acrylic rendering, including:
- Wider variety of surfaces you can apply to (painted walls, timber, concrete, masonry etc)
- Decreased chances of cracking. This means less re-painting or re-rendering is necessary and saves you money over the long-term
- Tinting is available for your acrylic render and means less painting is required
Acrylic rendering isn’t the only option available. Hani also offers cement rendering, polystyrene cladding, and more.
