What is acrylic rendering?

Acrylic rendering is a type of exterior finishing method that mixes acrylic (a plastic) into the mixture. Just like cement rendering, acrylic rendering can be used to cover external walls like:

  • Concrete walls
  • Brick walls
  • Stone walls
  • And even mud walls

Unlike cement rendering, acrylic rendering can be applied to more surfaces. This includes smooth concrete, painted masonry, uneven concrete, plasterboards, and more.

The reason this is applied is to increase the durability and resistance of external walls, increase home insulation, and improve the aesthetics of your property.

What type of finishes or textures are available?

Similarly to cement rendering, acrylic rendering has a variety of textures available. Depending on your preferences, you can choose from:

  • Smooth finishes of varying degrees
  • Rough, pebbly finishes, of varying degrees

To achieve each finish different materials and techniques are used. For example, a different sponge, float, or other tool will be used.

Depending on the number of coats you want, how you plan to paint the wall after the cement has cured (after 28 days), and the end result desired — the optimal finish for your property will change.
